Guitar Fretboard – AWS Cloud Engineering Project

Designed and deployed an interactive guitar fretboard application on AWS, using the project to develop practical experience in cloud architecture, serverless services, Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD, and cloud security.

Application Features

Interactive guitar fretboard displaying notes across multiple frets and strings.
Select a root note and scale to dynamically highlight the appropriate notes on the fretboard.
Support for different guitar tuning configurations.
Customizable open-string tuning values.
Tuning presets are retrieved dynamically from the backend instead of being hard-coded into the frontend.
Scale and tuning data stored in Amazon DynamoDB.
JavaScript frontend communicates with API Gateway to retrieve application data.

Key Implementation

Hosted the frontend using Amazon S3 and Amazon CloudFront.
Secured the S3 origin using CloudFront Origin Access Control (OAC) and configured HTTPS with AWS Certificate Manager (ACM).
Built a serverless backend using API Gateway, AWS Lambda, and Amazon DynamoDB.
Provisioned AWS infrastructure using modular Terraform configurations and remote state stored in Amazon S3.
Implemented CI/CD using GitHub Actions with AWS OIDC authentication and automated CloudFront cache invalidation.
Used IAM roles and policies to control service-to-service access and troubleshoot deployment and application issues.

Cloud Resume Project

Designed and deployed a serverless cloud portfolio on AWS using Terraform Infrastructure as Code. The project demonstrates static website hosting, CDN delivery, HTTPS, DNS, serverless APIs, persistent storage, monitoring, and IAM access control.

Architecture & Implementation

Provisioned and managed AWS infrastructure using Terraform rather than manual console deployment.
Hosted static website assets in Amazon S3 and delivered them through Amazon CloudFront.
Configured a custom domain farhanazrayl.com with Cloudflare DNS.
Implemented HTTPS using AWS Certificate Manager (ACM).
Configured CloudFront Origin Access Control (OAC).
Developed a serverless visitor counter using API Gateway, AWS Lambda, and Amazon DynamoDB.
Implemented IAM roles and policies for service permissions and least-privilege access.
Used CloudWatch logs to troubleshoot Lambda execution and backend API errors.
Used Git and GitHub for source control and documented architecture decisions, troubleshooting, and lessons learned throughout development.
